un elemento de tierras raras (es uno de un conjunto de diecisiete elementos qu\u00edmicos en la tabla peri\u00f3dica).\u00a0En la industria nuclear, el gadolinio se usa com\u00fanmente como absorbente de neutrones debido a la secci\u00f3n transversal de absorci\u00f3n de neutrones muy alta de dos is\u00f3topos 155Gd y 157Gd.\u00a0De hecho, sus secciones transversales de absorci\u00f3n son las
